Overview
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is one of the most unique Disney World resorts because it’s a giant log cabin. The Wilderness Lodge opened in 1994 and was inspired by American National Parks.
While staying at Disney World’s Wilderness Lodge you can soak up the great outdoors. The Wilderness Lodge offers all your favorite rustic activities like hiking trails, campfires, rocking chairs on the Bay Lake, and more.
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge also has some of the most unique Disney rooms because Wilderness Lodge even has cabins. If you truly want that rustic, outdoor feel, these are for you!
Disney World vacations are so busy that returning to the Wilderness Lodge at night allows you to relax and unwind in a rustic atmosphere.
If you’re family has never considered staying at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, it offers a unique spin to your Disney vacation!
If you haven’t been warned yet, Disney vacations can be stressful. I always keep some peppermint in my Disney park bag. Put some on the back of your neck for headache or stress relief!

Location and Transportation
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is located near Disney’s Magic Kingdom on Bay Lake. One of the many advantages to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is the close location to the Magic Kingdom.
Another advantage to Disney World’s Wilderness Lodge is the secluded location. Many people want a Disney resort that allows them to get away from the craziness of the Disney Parks.
The Wilderness Lodge gives you seclusion and removal from the Disney Parks while still being really close to the action.
And since the Wilderness Lodge is close to the Disney magic and the Magic Kingdom, you can take boat transportation to Disney’s Magic Kingdom. The Disney Wilderness Lodge boat departs from the back of the resort on Bay Lake.
To get to Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom or Disney Springs, you would take a bus from Wilderness Lodge. But in true Disney Deluxe Resort fashion, the Wilderness Lodge transportation should be quick since you aren’t sharing a bus with any other Disney resort.

If you plan on spending time relaxing at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, make sure to remember sun protection! I always forget a hat or sunscreen and evidently end up burned!
Disney Wilderness Lodge Rooms
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge offers many different types of rooms and lodging. Before diving into all the different room types, remember that Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is a Disney Vacation Club resort which opens up many other room types too.
The normal rooms at the Wilderness Lodge are considered “standard” rooms. Disney standard rooms typically have two queen or one king bed and don’t have any specific or special view of that Disney resort.
My family usually does the “standard” room at all the Disney hotels because it’s the cheapest and lets face it, you’re not in your room that often.
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge rooms also have views of the courtyard which is usually a courtyard, pool, or Bay Lake and nature views which gives views of the nature surrounding the resort. Both these views come at an additional upcharge and you can even pay a higher upcharge for a Disney firework view room.
The Wilderness Lodge also has club level rooms which I’ll discuss in more detail below.
Another room type at Wilderness Lodge is the Disney Vacation Club or DVC rooms. Many people don’t know that average Disney goers can stay at DVC properties. The DVC rooms are different because they are usually bigger and come with some sort of kitchen setup.
The Wilderness Lodge’s DVC properties are the Boulder Ridge Villas and the Cooper Creek Villas. At the Disney Wilderness Lodge DVC Resorts you can find the Wilderness Lodge cabins.
The Disney Wilderness Lodge cabins are infamous for their beauty and luxurious feel. The Wilderness Lodge cabins are located at Disney’s Cooper Creek Villas.
The nice part about the Disney Wilderness Lodge cabins are that they sleep up to 8 adults. If you are going on a Disney multi-generational trip, this a great option for you.

Disney Club Level
You may be asking, what is Disney Club Level?
Several Disney resorts offer club level access which give guests extra amenities at their Disney World resort. At the Walt Disney World Wilderness Lodge, the club level lounge is the Old Faithful Club.
Here are all the club level amenities available at the Wilderness Lodge:
- Food offerings located in the Old Faithful Club throughout the day. This includes continental breakfast, snacks, appetizers, desserts, and refreshments
- Evening room turndown
- Health club access
- Personalized Guest Services and Concierge
If you plan to spend a lot of time at the resort, a club level room may be worth considering. During the pandemic, Disney paused club level access as a safety procedure.
I would recommend calling Disney to make sure that the Wilderness Lodge club level program is running before you book your Disney vacation!
Food Options
If you were hoping for a Disney resort with great food options, look no further! Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has character dining, lakeside dining, and lounges for every occasion.

- Whispering Canyon Café

I wanted to talk about the often overlooked Disney character dining experience at Artist Point. Many people forget about Wilderness Lodge’s Artist Point but it has great food and gives your kids the chance to meet Snow White, the Seven Dwarfs, and more!
And one of my favorite Disney World restaurants is the Geyser Point Bar and Grill. The Wilderness Lodge’s Geyser Point is a quick service, bar location with great American food.
But Geyser Point is one of my favorite Disney restaurants because of the location. Disney’s Geyser Point sits right on Bay Lake with incredible views of the Wilderness Lodge Resort!
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge restaurants are often overlooked but they offer delicious food so consider venturing out and trying one of these Disney restaurants on your next trip!
Amenities
Last but not least, what amenities does Disney’s Wilderness Lodge offer? There are many amenities like pools, shopping, outdoor activities at the Wilderness Lodge Resort.
In my opinion, one of the greatest amenities is Disney’s Wilderness Lodge pool. The Wilderness Lodge as two pool areas, the Cooper Crekk Springs pool and the Boulder Ridge Cove pool.
Both Wilderness Lodge pool areas are awesome with views of Bay Lake, plenty of seating and access to great food. If you have little ones, Cooper Creek Springs pool has a large waterslide but the Boulder Ridge Cove pool is a quieter pool for those that want to relax.
If you are looking for outdoor activities while at Disney, you can rent bikes, rent boats, fish, and jog on the trails. Additionally, the Disney World Wilderness Lodge has campfires and movies under the stars.
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge also has a full service salon and fitness center for those looking to work out or relax on their Disney trip! The Disney Wilderness Lodge is truly the best Disney resort match for nature lovers.
Besides all the great activities and pools at Wilderness Lodge, you can view Disney’s Electrical Water Pageant on Bay Lake. Each night, Disney World has a parade of lit up floats that travels to the Disney resorts around Bay Lake.
The Disney Electrical Water Pageant music is played throughout the Wilderness Lodge resort so you can enjoy it right from the comfort of your hotel.
Like the rest of the Disney World resorts, you will also have access to the Disney resort perks like early morning theme park access, the Disney Magical Express, Disney transportation, and more!
